The Newspaper Tycoon and The Pioneer Lady Architect.
Around 1920s the newspaper tycoon William Randolph Hearst commissioned Architect Julia Morgan to build a place for his art and collectibles gathered from Europe and to entertain his guests generally from the early film industry of Southern California. This era is captured at Hearst “Castle” which was not built to defend any attacks. Time stands still as you are reminded of scenic and romantic times of the first half of the 20th Century.
Enjoy the scenic view as we make our journey over to the Enchanted Hill. Visit the elephant seals at the Piedras Blancas Rookery before heading over to San Simeon. At the castle, you will be guided to the National Geographic Theater to view “Hearst Castle – Building the Dream” in large screen format before venturing up the hill to “Grand Rooms Tour”. This is a combination tour that makes the story of William Randolph Hearst a truly memorable experience! After the tour enjoy a gourmet deli lunch at/near the Castle. Before heading back to Paso Robles stop at a local winery or do some shopping in downtown Cambria. This is an inclusive all day adventure. Please wear comfortable clothing in light layers.
